The open dynamic of the New City of Culture is expressed in "Fusion Plans." The institutions transcend autonomous entities - they fuse with each other like culture evolves: music with poetry and opera, literature with film and history. Fusion, the state or act of being united, brings the diverse programs of the complex into potential crystallizations. It is a dynamic programmatic union with overlapping and flexible connections. Shifts in program coalesce with turns and twists in plan and section. The expression of one building function distinct from another is synthesized in crystal architecture. Passages between and the connections between cultural areas become an important catalyst. The Museum of Galicia fuses with the Contemporary Museum, the Institute for Sound and Image to the Libraries in a crossover connection allowing many different programming options for curators and users. Open Center. The heart of the C.C. Galicia is an open center. On arrival one enters a monumental space with a large sheet of water open to the sky, framing the view of Santiago in the distance. Reflecting the stars and rain drops, this water is the source of five "Rias in Reverse" which flow down between spaces forming water gardens dedicated to the main Galician cities: La Coru–a, Lugo, Orense, Pontevedra and Santiago de Compostela.
